It's a Wrap - Host Analytics World 2016

17,500 steps a day, four days packed with keynote speakers, breakout sessions, modeling workshops and fun evening events. Host Analytics World 2016 is over and I can breathe a sigh of relief – we did it!

We had a blast welcoming more than 800 EPM rockstars to the event this year and making every attendee’s experience the best it could be.  Months and months of preparation all led to an amazing event packed full of highlights, insights, customer interactions and many takeaways – not to mention the much needed foot massage for me at the close of the event.

In case there's anything you missed, or perhaps you could not be with us, here's my rundown of the top 5 highlights from Host Analytics World 2016 – Navigating Change.

#5 - Tick and Tie went #AWOL

Host Analytics mascots Tick and Tie skipped out of our conference for the day and went out and about in San Francisco during the event.  As one twitter follower commented “this has to be the 1st time in history kids wanted to dance with FP&A mascots, @host_analytics made #epm cool”.  Tick and Tie were again a huge hit with our attendees yet again and were sharing the FP&A love out and about in San Francisco.  Watch their outing here.

#4 - Presentations, Workshops, Demos and more…..

Multiple workshops, presentations, campfire sessions (with marshmallows) and demos were major highlights during the event to allow our attendees to learn more and dive deep into our products (modeling, planning, budgeting, consolidation, reporting, and analytics), and watch them in action. Thank you to all of our speakers who filled the agenda with some fantastic case studies, practical tips and tricks and lessons learned for all attendees. If you missed any of the sessions, they are available for viewing at

#3 - Football Hall of Famer Steve Young Guest Keynote

I have worked with many keynote guest speakers in my time and I would have to say that Steve Young is up there as one of my top 3 favorite keynotes – all round successful man, charming and super nice guy. Being an Aussie girl who really has no clue about American Football in general or how big of a deal this “champion” really was, I braced myself and crossed every toe and finger, hoping that I had got this right.  And, Steve did not disappoint.

Giving us glimpses of his experience both on and off the field with self-deprecating humor and passion for the game, he shared his lifelong takeaways of being pushed beyond his comfort zone by a tireless coach.  Not only a football champion, but also a successful business man, philanthropist and family man, he wowed our Finance audience for 50 minutes and emphasized how individual accountability is key, and starts at the top, and has to permeate the team in order for the team to succeed. Lessons definitely learned from the gridiron and shared to our audience. Did I also mention what a super nice guy he was?

#2 - Dave Kellogg Keynote

One of the great things about working with the best CEO in the business – you are always in for a real treat when he takes to the stage for the opening of Host Analytics World. We love our customers and highlighting our customers is always a key theme for Dave Kellogg’s keynote session, as well as all the new surprises we have to show.  It did not disappoint! You can check out his full keynote here, along with all of our other great keynote sessions at

#1 - #HAWORLD Gives Back & We Had Some Fun on the Run

Host Analytics World is not just about innovation, learning, and having fun, but also about giving back.  This year in conjunction with one of our great customers Thrivent Financial, we were able to help homeless children have a better night’s sleep through supporting one of my favorite charities – #ProjectNightNight.  Attendees stuffed packages which we sent to two bay area shelters along with nearly 700 children books that attendees brought to the event and displayed onsite for our Host Analytics World Book Drive.  These were boxed up and donated back to Project Night Night to use in future packages for homeless kids.  Thank you to all who supported this great cause!

We also held our first 5km Fun Run/Walk.  More than 100 attendees turned up at 6am to kick start Day 2 of the event with an early morning run along some of San Francisco’s iconic sites.  This set the tone for what would be an action packed second day at the event.

And that’s a wrap for Host Analytics World 2016. We have already begun planning for next year’s event in Nashville, and I want to take the opportunity to thank all of those who attended the event this year and all of those who participated in so many ways to make it such a success. I love seeing it come to life and most of all, I love to see and catch up with all the customers who I correspond with during the year - seeing them onsite and meeting new ones at the event. Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to be with us at Host Analytics World. You are #EPMRockstars!

See you next year in the heart of Nashville and save the date: May 16 – 19, 2017. We already have some great things in store!
